He has performed at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the Carnegie Hall in New York and on stages in Europe and the United States. He regularly conducts at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada, leading the Academic Orchestra of Granada and the Ensemble Ancora. He has published the books “Music and Identity” and “Listening and Interpreting” in Alianza Editorial.

Rafael Lamas is an orchestra conductor, concert pianist, and full professor of Hispanic studies and cultural criticism at Fordham University. He has performed across the US and the EU at venues such as the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall in New York and the Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada, leading the Granada Academic Orchestra and the Ensemble Ancora.

He has published the books “Música e Identidad” and “Escuchar e Intepretar” in Alianza Editorial. His last two books of literary creation, “Músicas de Nueva York” and “Un Instante en Roma” appeared in Traspiés editorial.

He has received scholarships as a resident musician and writer from institutions in the US (Alaska, Hawaii, and Colorado), France, Germany, Italy, and Spain (Royal Academy of Spain in Rome).

He lived in New York, London, Vienna, Paris, Siena, Philadelphia, Tokyo, Madrid, Granada, and Ferrol.
